In the constituency of North Galway, Thomas Sloyan, a draper from Tuam, was nominated as the candidate for the United Irish League (Irish Parliamentary Party) for the forthcoming general election next month. He received written endorsements from the Archbishop of Tuam, T. J. Gilmartin, the parish priest for Caherlistrane, Fr. Michael Heaney and Fr Michael Diskin, parish priest for Dunmore. Mr. Sloyan succeeds Richard Hazelton, the sitting M.P. who will contest the general election in the North Louth constituency for the UIL.
