Electioneering disturbance near Charlestown

Trouble broke out when a group of Sinn Féin supporters arrived at the hall in Carracastle (near Charlestown in Co. Mayo) where a rally for John Dillon was already in progress. Bottles and other missiles were thrown at them and four were injured. Two priests accompanying the supporters were abused. The Sinn Féin candidate in the constituency is Eamonn De Valera.
