Kilrush

Five masked men raided several houses near Kilrush, Co. Clare tonight¹. At one house, they forced a young man, called Murphy, at gunpoint to fetch the family’s guns. However, Murphy threatened to use the gun on the raiders, who promptly fled. Murphy chased after the raiders, shot one of them and then dragged the wounded man, named Mulqueen, back to his house, where he extracted the details of the raiding party.
